Really quick.
*One doe, Debut, appearantly is not bred, evident by all the hollering she was doing 2 1/2 wks ago. I’m trying to arrange to get Ajax back (he left in December), or figure something else out before she comes into heat again. very frustrating! Note: she was bred and for some reason aborted, but she did rebreed to Ajax twice before he left, but no takers…
*I’ve been working on drying off Nutmeg and Cinnamon to give them (and me) a 2 month hiatus before kidding starts.
**Nutmeg is officially dry! I infused her teats this morning with ‘Tomorrow’, which was unpleasant (more for her than me), but was not as traumatic as I thought it would be! I’m quite proud of how my goat farming skills have developed. No, no photos, too busy to think about it.
Cinnamon is getting there…maybe another week or so.
**NON goaty: I’ve been helping over at Blue Sage Farm with lambing…”Helping” is mostly following around asking questions and waiting to watch lambs be born. I’ve seen a few now-no one needed any help (I’ve been hoping to assist with birth so if the goats have trouble I know what to do. I’ve also done ear tagging. docking of tails, and castrating. All three were easier than I imagined (no blood or anything icky), and actually quite fun working with the lambs and ewes.
*I will eventually get pictures up. ![]()
